Alex Wright

Alex Wright is Head of Policy & Public Affairs at the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Alex leads the work of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) on Higher Education and the SDGs, including political engagement with the Commonwealth and United Nations. Alex also oversees ACU’s member networks on Peace and Reconciliation (SDG16) and Climate Resilience (SDG13) which convene universities to take action to directly address specific SDGs. Prior to joining the ACU, Alex has worked as an independent consultant specialising in international education policy and advocacy, an NGO Director, and as an Education Advisor for the Commonwealth Secretariat. His experience includes developing and managing international development and education programmes, planning and delivery of intergovernmental conferences, representing clients in international policy networks and processes, and advocacy around the Sustainable Development Goals.
Christian Nsonwu
Policy & Research Officer | Association of Commonwealth Universities
Christian joined the ACU team in 2019 and serves as the Policy Officer, assisting in research and policy analysis for the public affairs team. Prior to joining the ACU, Christian worked as a public policy fellow for Forefront, a non-profit organization that provides policy advice and advocacy for the social impact sector in Chicago. Christian has previously worked in the Irish Parliament, a facilitator for a Peace and Reconciliation centre in Northern Ireland, and a research fellow for several university research projects. He has a BA in Political Science and Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an MA in Social Services Administration from the University of Chicago.
